Robson & Co Ophthalmic Opticians practice is ideally situated on Pilgrim Street in Newcastle city centre, opposite the old Odeon cinema.

Our Staff

Robson & Co Opticians benefits from the experience of 2 Optometrists:

Jonathan Leech, the Managing Partner has been in the Newcastle practice since 1994; having gained experience in both a small independent opticians in Shropshire, and then with Dolland and Aitchison in Birmingham.

Optometrist Andrew Brent completes our clinical staff. Andrew graduated from the University of Manchester in 2010 and joined us in December 2012 after spending two years at a local Independent chain.

They are capably supported by our Dispensing staff:

Our team is led by Dispensing Manager Elaine Davis. Elaine qualified in 1980 and has previously worked in the City and West End of London before moving to Newcastle in 1991 and has worked in the centre of Newcastle since then.

Elaine is supported by our Dispensing Assistant Donna Smith. Donna has a wealth of optical knowledge gained from many years in the independent sector, and specialises in the tuition of inserting and removing contact lenses.

Our team of receptionists Wendy, Kathy and Vanessa complete our team, and will do their best to deal with your queries in an accurate and pleasant way.

General Optical Council Qualified Staff

Our professional staff are General Optical Council registered. They are each specialists in their own field, be it eye examination, contact lens fitting, spectacle frame specification, spectacle styling or spectacle lens selection. They are the ideal professionals to deal with your visual health and eye-wear requirements.

“We have a very high rate of customer retention which results mainly from two factors. Firstly, we have a very stable staff of very competent opticians. This enables continuity in the relationship between optician and client.

Secondly, our dispensing opticians are qualified to a high level and are fully aware of the whole range of problems that we know can result in inappropriate glasses being dispensed. Taking time to cover every aspect of a client’s visual history pays off for us as we have a very large amount of client referral business.”
