Spectacles
We stock a wide variety of frames to suit different styles
and budgets. Many frames are now made from titanium or titanium
alloys, produce light strong spectacles that are easy to wear
and are hypoallergenic. Lindberg are one of the first designers
to use titanium successfully and are the winners of many design
awards. The Lindberg Air Titanium range includes rimless,
titanium wire and acetate models. With an enormous choice
of lens shapes, sizes and colours these spectacles can be
really unique.
Silhouette have a huge range - well know for their classic
styles but more recently they introduced the Minima range
of titanium and acetate rimless styles - the lightest frame
available.
Spectacle Lenses
The choice of your lens is just as important as the choice
of frame. The right lens will make your spectacle lighter
to wearer, better in appearance and most importantly give
good vision.
We use many different lenses depending on your prescription
and visual needs. We are an Essilor Varilux specialist practice
and also a Seiko stockist.
Sunglasses
At Trotters we have a separate sunglass department known
as Suntrap. In Suntrap we stock a wide range of styles suitable
for all occasions and budgets. Many sunglasses can be made
up to a spectacle prescription and we will be happy to advise
you on suitability depending on your prescription. The ranges
change annually but favourites include:

- Oakley
- Rayban
- Gucci
- Chanel
We also stock skiing goggles and prescription swimming goggles
and can advise on other sports glasses such as golf tints,
diving masks, children's sports goggles and many more.
Contact Lenses
Many people now are discovering just how easy modern contact
lenses are and what a useful addition they can be for those
times when spectacles are inconvenient. Lenses are available
in many forms to suit most prescriptions and are very comfortable
and affordable for either full time wear of occasional use.
Some of the recent developments in lenses are:
- Varifocal contact lenses in monthly or daily disposable
form
- Extended wear silicone contact lenses that can be left
in overnight for up to a month
- Toric lenses to correct astigmatism now available in
monthly disposable form in a wide range of prescriptions
and just launched in daily disposable form for minus prescriptions.
If you've never worn lenses before but are interested in
a trial talk to your optometrist about the options that are
most suitable for you. If you have worn lenses in the past
and have given up because of problems, we may be able to refit
you successfully with a modern lens.
