Robson & Co Ophthalmic Opticians practice is prominently situated on Pilgrim Street in Newcastle city centre, opposite the old Odeon. Benefiting from a £100,000 investment the shop front is stress fitted engineering glass, resulting in a light, relaxed environment.

Our Optometrists

We have two optometrists; the managing partner Jonathan Leech and Tanya Wheeler. After gaining experience in a small independent opticians in Shropshire and as an optometrist with Dolland & Aitchison, Jonathan has been in the practice since 1994; Tania since 1997. We also have two fully qualified dispensing opticians; Barrie Walker and Cecilia Bell.

General Optical Council Qualified Staff

Our staff are experienced, professionally qualified dispensing opticians, registered with the General Optical Council. They are specialists in spectacle frame specification, spectacle styling and spectacle and contact lens design. They are the ideal professionals to deal with your vision health and eyewear requirements.

Says Jonathan

"We have a very high rate of customer retention which we think results from two factors. Firstly, we have a very stable staff of very competent opticians. This enables continuity in the relationship between optician and client. Secondly, our dispensing opticians are qualified to a high level and are fully aware of the whole range of problems that we know can result in inappropriate glasses being dispensed. Taking time to cover every aspect of a client's visual history seems to pay off for us as we do a huge amount of client referral business."

Spectacles - Pay Monthly

We offer the Eye Plan payment system whereby people who like to have several pairs of spectacles for different situations or occasions can pay for them on a monthly basis. For such customers this can be very cost effective, with discounts as high as 40% on some spectacles.
